Hot honey berloumi tacos

You might have already come across it: the brilliant alliteration Hot Honey “cheese whose name we’re no longer allowed to mention”. Okay, hot honey Berloumi might be missing the trple alliteration, but did you know that it is at least just as delicious? Today, we put our hot honey Berloumi on a taco, but the possibilities are endless: in a salad, on a burger, as a quick snack, … The honey and chili flakes give the Berloumi the perfect extra flavour kick!

The most important step in this recipe is properly grilling the Berloumi. Slice the Berloumi into pieces of about 2 cm thick. Heat a pan over high heat and place the slices in, without oil. Cook them until golden brown and crispy on both sides. Then, add the honey and chili flakes. We used 2 tablespoons of honey and a small tablespoon of chili, but feel free to adjust this to your taste. Let the slices cook for a while in this mixture, stirring gentrly to make sure the honey and chili are evenly distributed over all pieces.
The hardest part is over, so now the fun begins: assembling your tacos! You can get as creative as you like, or keep it simple. We decided to top our tacos with Labneh tzatziki, since it provides a fresh contrast to the sweet and spicy Berloumi. For an extra fresh touch (and, of course, a beautiful presentation), we finished them off with pomegranate seeds and spring onions.

Now it’s time to serve your tacos. You can present them directly on a plate, or set out all the ingredients on the table so everyone can assemble their own tacos. This way, you’ll always have warm Berloumi on your taco!
